This past weekend my sisters and my Mom had a “Scrapping and Stamping Getaway Weekend”.
We all met at a hotel in Indianapolis (the mid-point between us all) and spent all of our time working on our scrapbooks.
We worked on Christmas cards too.
My Christmas cards are just about finished, which is way too early for me.
I’ll probably change my mind about the design and decide to do new ones two weeks before Christmas.
This was my second ‘hotel-crop’, and I would strongly suggest this if you can get away for a night or two.
We met at the hotel on Friday night and left Sunday at noon. All of the hours in between were for scrapping, stamping, sleeping, or eating.
If you plan a getaway like this, I have a few suggestions:
- Choose a hotel that has a nice lobby or common areas. After working for a couple of hours, you’ll need to get up and walk around.
- If you’re going to share the room with someone, get a 2-room suite. This way you can work into the early morning hours in one room, and your roommate can turn off the lights and sleep in the other.
- Call the front desk and ask them to deliver a banquet table to your room. There is typically a small charge ($20 for my trip over the weekend) but it is well worth it to be able to spread your supplies out and have plenty of workspace.
- Make sure the hotel has a restaurant/bar that you’d like to eat at several times. You don’t want to waste precious time leaving the hotel for meals.
Cardmaking is my jam! I enjoy using rubber stamps and scrapbooking materials to make my own homemade cards. I use Stampin’ Up products for a lot of my cards.
