Need a quick card for Valentine’s Day?
These 2 cards with matching envelopes can easily be made using 2 decorative sheets of paper, heart stickers, and 1 sheet each of red and white paper.
DIY Valentine Card Supplies
My decorative paper is from the DCWV Spring Stack. You can use any 12×12″ sheets you already have, or select 2 from any craft store like Michael’s or Hobby Lobby.
If you don’t want to make your own matching envelopes, then you’ll only need one 8.5×11″ sheet of decorative paper for both cards.
The heart stickers I used are clear red and white (actually, silver) rhinestones. You can find them online (Me and My Big Ideas heart rhinestone stickers). I got mine at Michael’s. You could also use any heart stickers you already have in your supply.

In addition to the decorative paper, I used 1 sheet each of white and burgundy red 8.5×11″ cardstock paper.
How To Make Valentine Cards
The base of each card is 8×4″ red, folded to make a 4″ square card. The decorative sheet is 3-7/8″ square, adhered to the center of the card front.
The center of each card has the sticker on a 1-3/4″ square of red or white (see picture), then a 1-1/2″ square of the other color. The heart sticker used here is nearly 1-1/4″. Be sure to adjust your squares if you are using different stickers.
The white paper is a 3-7/8″ square. I chose one of the cute sayings from the decorative paper for the sentiment on the inside, placing it with a border of the red paper. If your paper does not have words on it, you could print a personal message or use a sticker, rubber stamp or rub-on for the sentiment.
With my 2nd sheet of decorative paper, I made matching envelopes using this technique.
First, cut the paper in half horizontally, making sure the words run horizontally as well. Because the cards are small and additional postage is required for square envelopes, I used a regular, rectangular envelope (instead of the card) as the object to fold around. The regular envelope I used is 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″. Follow the picture here to help you cut out your envelope.
This card can easily be personalized by selecting paper that suits the personality of the recipient. For example for children, use paper with silly animals or a single word on it. The sticker in the middle can be a cartoon character or something special to the child.
Have fun with it!

I’ve been crafting for many years. I started with cross-stitching, then moved on to wearable art, projects with painted wood, fabric crafts, and paper crafts — which has transformed primarily into card making. I also do some rubber stamping and scrapbooking, but mostly I enjoy creating handmade, one-of-a-kind cards.
