Handmade Pink Flower Cards For Any Occasion!

These 3 cards were completely inspired by the pretty flower paper that I used for the envelopes.

3-handmade-pink-flower-cards.jpg

The papers I used:

  • Flower paper = 3 sheets, 12x12 DCWV value paper pack (from JoAnne's)

  • All other paper = 8.5x11 cardstock from The Paper Company value packs (from Michael's)

Each card is 6x6, and I made the envelopes to fit.

For the embellishments:

  • The flowers were cut on my Cricut Expressions using the Walking in my Garden cartridge, daisy 2.5", with handcut yellow centers.

  • The word "celebrate" is from Wild Card cartridge.

  • The word "friend" is from Doodlecharms.

How To Make A Belated Birthday Card And/Or A Major Milestone Birthday Card With A Turtle Theme

40-turtles-using-Walk-in-My-Garden-cricut-cartridge.jpg Well, shoot, I missed my brother's 40th birthday. I mean I knew it was his birthday, I just forgot it was a BIG birthday. (Maybe you've figured out I'm the older sister, and the memory, well...)

So my original birthday card will be saved for next year. This year, I had to whip up a birthday card worthy of a 40th birthday.

I have been eyeing a cute little turtle from the Walk in My Garden cartridge for my Cricut Expressions. I decided one of those s l o w m o v i n g little guys would convey my "sorry I'm late" message quite nicely.

I was looking through my paper selection to choose colors and inspiration struck: if one cute turtle says "I'm sorry", what would FORTY cute turtles say?!

How To Make A Handmade Farewell Card

handmade-farewell-card.jpg This card was for a colleague who is leaving for a new job.

I have now been recruited to make a card for every event in my office!

I started this handmade farewell card with a 5-inch flower cut from my Cricut Expressions (Walking in my Garden cartridge). I also used the "shadow" feature to get the dark blue background.

The yellow center is another cut feature. I cut the ladybug from the same cartridge at 1-inch, and the letters are 1-inch from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.

I used my black, fine point Sharpie pen to make the imperfect dashes and dots around the border of the flower -- just to add a little dimension.

How To Make Envelopes For Your Handmade Cards

blank-cards-and-envelopes-for-cardmaking.jpg When you want to make a handmade card, you have many options for buying pre-made blank cards and envelopes, ready for you to personalize and decorate.

You can buy them in packs from 5-50 in all colors -- both online, and in stores. These are great for making multiples, such as Christmas cards or party invitations.

But, sometimes you might want to make a card with a unique shape, size, or paper.

I love to match my cards to the envelope, so when I use a print or patterned paper on the card itself, I make sure I have a sheet leftover for the envelope as well. (It doesn't always have to be the exact same sheet of paper; any complementary design or color works.)

TIP: Remember not to make the card so big that the envelope paper won't cover it!

Okay, are you ready to have fun learning how to make an envelope for any situation?  Here we go...
