A Fun Handmade Father's Day Card: Hey Dad, You Rock!

I've had these sheets of 12x12 "rock" paper from a DCVW stack pack for awhile just waiting for the right card.

Father's Day is it!

You might be able to find single sheets of rock paper at any store that sells scrapbook or stamping supplies.

I made the "thought bubble" card using the Wild Card cartridge on my Cricut Expressions on black cardstock at the maximum size of 8-3/4".

Then, using grey cardstock and the rock paper, I made 2 cuts using the "blackout" feature of the cartridge.

This gave me a grey backing for the front of the card and the rocks for the inside.

I used my Zig Memory Systems 2-way glue pen to secure the backings instead of my Tombo mono adhesive double-sided tape -- because the glue pen allows some movement to position the backing exactly where I want it, whereas the tape usually sticks immediately and can't be moved.

The letters were cut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge at 1.5". For a little variety, I cut all the consonant letters as lower case and the vowels as capitals. Then, I used a silver Sharpie pen to add random dots.

I used another piece of the rock paper to make the matching envelope.
